All elements of the electric drive technology can be classified into three groups:
Mechanics - which includes electric motors, gearmotors, clutches / brakes, variators - all elements of the electric drive that are involved in mechanical movement
Electronics that directly controls mechanical devices, such as dc and ac motors, clutches / brakes
Industrial automation - devices for control of technological processes, usually control a number of electronic devices.
